Mix shortening, sugar, egg and molasses thoroughly. Measure flour by dip-level-pour method or by sifting. Blend all dry ingredients; stir in. Chill. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Roll dough into balls the size of walnuts. Dip tops in sugar. Place, sugar-side-up, 3” apart on greased baking sheet. Sprinkle each with 2 or 2 drops of water. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
