My Mother's Pound Cake

Ingredients

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
3 cups cake flour
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract

Method

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Alternately add the flour and the milk, beating well after each addition. Stir in flavorings. Spoon the batter into a greased and floured 10-inch Bundt pan. Place pan in a cold oven and heat oven to 325-degrees. Bake for 1 hour; increase oven temperature to 360-degrees and bake 30 minutes more. DO NOT open the oven door while baking. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn onto a wire rack to cool completely.
