5-7 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
1 to 1 1/2 sticks butter, sliced into 1/4" pats
pepper to taste
2 small cans Cream of Mushroom soup
2 small cans of sliced mushrooms (opt)
Preheat over to 375'.
In a glass 9X13" pan, layer sliced potatoes, butter pats & pepper (potato slices butter, pepper) repeating until all potatoes are in the pan ending with pepper.
In a medium bowl, mix soup with enough milk & water (use more milk than water for a creamier sauce) to make a sauce; about 2/3 can of milk and 1/3 can of water--or to ur desired consistency. Stir in mushrooms. Pour over potatoes.
Place pan in preheated oven and bake 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until potatoes are tender.
NOTE: Optionally to make an entire meal you can add a few cups of cubed cooked ham (in layers with potatoes). Or you can put pork chops/steaks in the bottom of the pan before layering potatoes.
