ripe olive tamale casserole

1 lb hamburger
2 Tbsp. cooking oil
1 c. chopped onions
1 lg. can tomatoes
1 tall can sliced ripe olives
1 lg. can whole kernel corn
1 Tbsp. chili powder
3/4 c. corn meal
1 or more cups grated american cheese


brown beef in oil. when meat is almost cooked, stir in onions and cook til they are transparent. add tomatoes, corn, and chili powder. heat to boiling. slowly stir in corn meal. cook over very low heat 10-15 minutes, stirring to prevent sticking. stir olives into tamale mixture. put in baking pan or casserole. sprinkle with cheese. bake at 350 degrees 30-40 minutes
