Serves: 12 Preparation time: Cooking time: Difficulty: Easy - for beginners

Ingredients

2 boxes Pillsbury puff pastry (that's the secret: thx, Anita)
1 bear Honey
1 t cinnamon
1/2 container froz OJ
1.5C almonds
1.5C pistachios
1.5 sticks butter.

Method

Get the pastry thawing.
Chop nuts fine, reserving a handful of almonds.
Boil honey, OJ & cinnamon for 10 minutes till it's thick, then melt in butter.
In a 9x15, lay down one layer of pastry.
Nuts next.
Half the honey mixture.
next layer pastry.
rest of the honey.
Chop into small squares with a cleaver or chef's knife
sprinkle with almonds
350, 1.5Hr
Can't call it baklava, but it's close, and SUPER easy.

Comments

I've left the method untouched as I made it, but think it would come out way better if I'd cut the pastry, then poured on just the butter, then baked and last, poured hot cooked honey/oj mixture on top, similar to baklava method. Pouring on all the liquid at first made it cook up thicker and heavier that the light flaky pastry I was going for.
