1/2 pound of butter (two sticks)
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 1/4 cups flour
about 3/4 cup of topping, or Maraschino, cherries cut in half
Cream butter and sugar together, add flour...dough will be stiff. Roll into balls about one inch in diameter. Press with a fork a few times in parallel lines, and place a half cherry in the middle, press it down lightly. Bake at 350* for 10-12 minutes (they will be lightly tanned on the bottom). This recipe makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
