Apple Crisp

With cooler fall weather, this recipe warms the soul and the body. Best prepared with hard apples, my favourites are Spies, Spartans, and Granny Smith.

Ingredients

4 cups apples, sliced and peeled
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/3 cup butter
1 scoop ice cream (optional)

Method

1. Put apples in a baking dish (grease with butter)
with lemon juice and sprinkle nutmeg over top.

2. Combine dry ingredients, add butter and mix
until topping resembles coarse bread crumbs

3. Sprinkle crumb mixture over apples and bake at
375 F for 30 minutes. Serve hot with ice cream.
