Fudge Cake

Ingredients

Cake
1 yellow cake mix. Prepare according to instructions in either layers or sheet cake form.

Frosting
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate cut in small pieces
1 1/2 cups of sugar
7 tablespoons of milk
1/4 cup butter
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt

Method

Melt the chocolate and add all above ingredients. Bring to a rolling boil stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute. Cool. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Beat until thick.

Note from my mother - “I like to use a 9 x 13 sheet cake pan and to increase the frosting ingredients by 50% to make a thick layer of delicious fudge icing.”
