Beer Bread

Delicious and easy bread, perfect as sweet desert or savoury side dish for soups or stew.

Serves: 1 Loaf (6 people)

Ingredients

3 cups (425g) flour
1/4 cup (50g) sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 (355mL) bottle lager beer, room temp.
1/4 cup (45g) melted butter

Method

>Preheat oven to 350 degrees F or 180 degrees C. Grease 9x5 inch (23x13cm) loaf pan.

>Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Mix in beer until well blended.

>Pour batter into the loaf pan. Pour melted (or put flaked) butter over batter. Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until light golden brown. Leave bread in pan and cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes. Remove from pan a nd serve.

Variations:
Add 1/2 cup (60g) grated cheddar cheese, 2 chopped green onions and a few jalapeno slices to the batter just before baking.

Or...

...for the Timoandfranistanian version, add big dark cooking chocolate and white chocolate to the mix just before baking.
