Gulasch

My German family recipe (not the wanna-be gulasch with ground beef and macaroni)

Ingredients

1 leek
1 carrot
1 cellerie
2 TBS Margarine or oil
2 onions
1 oven roast beef
Water
Salt, Pepper, Paprika
Chilli
Flour

Method

Rinse, peel and chop the veggies, cut meat in bite size pieces. Preheat oil in a big pot and fry the onions and the veggies in it. Now add the meat and fry until it starts to get brown. Now add 1 Tbs. of flour, mix and finish frying the meat. Now add enough water so that the meat is covered.

Add spices and let cook for 1 hour. Take care that the water is not getting too low or it will burn.

After 1 hour check if the beef is tender. If not, let cook for another 30 min. To 1 hour. When the beef is tender to your liking, mix 1 cup of water with 3 Tbs. of flour and add to the gulasch. Mix well until the gulasch is thickening. Now spice again to taste, serve with pasta or potatoes.
