OLD WORLD PFEFFERNUSSE COOKIES

Ingredients

1/2 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. molasses
1 egg
1 tbsp licorice-flavored liqueur (opt)
3 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp clove
dash of pepper
icing sugar

Method

Prehaet oven to 350F. Grease cookie sheets. Beat butter and brown sugar in large bowl until creamy. Beat in molasse. egg and liqueur, until light and fluffy. Mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and pepper. Shape level tbsp full of dough into balls. Place 2 " apart onto prepared cookie sheets
Bake 12 to 14 minutes until set. Cool 2 min. on cookie sheets. Remove to wire rack; sprinkle with icing sugar.
Cool completely. Store in airtight containers
