11oz/300g dates, finely chopped
4oz/100g walnuts, finely chopped
grated rind of 1/2 orange
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
12 wanton wrappers
corn oil for deep-frying
orange zest strips for garnish
Miz dates and walnuts in a bowl with orange rind and juice. Place a teaspoon of this mixture onto each wonton paper. Fold the paper over, moistening edges with water, and twist both ends to seal.
Heat oil in a wok to 170C/325F and deep-fry wontons until golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper and garnish with zest.
