350g/12oz cooking apples (weight after peeling and cored) grated or pulsed in food processor
2 tablespoons chopped sage
50g/2oz soft wholemeal breadcrumbs
50g/2oz butter, melted
50g/2oz sultanas
salt
pepper
Blend all the ingredients together and season well. If cooking in a separate dish, grease with butter an ovenproof dish, spread out evenly, dot the top with little blobs of butter and cook in a moderately hot oven for 45 mins to 1 hour.
