Chicken, Broccoli and Rice Casserole

1 bunch broccoli
2 c chicken broth
2/3 c rice
3 TBSP butter
3 TBSP flour
1 tsp salt
Dash pepper
2 c milk
2 c chicken, cooked and cubed
2 c shredded cheese


Wash broccoli and cut off stems; cook, drain and set aside. Bring broth and rice to a boil; simmer 20 minutes. Melt butter; stir in flour, salt and pepper. Add milk to butter mixture. Stir with whisk till boiling to make white sauce. In large bowl mix together chicken, rice, and broccoli and white sauce. Spread in 2-3 quart casserole dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Cook at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
