2 medium sized carrots
1 small swede
chopped parsley
2 tablespoons rice
1 large turnip
1 onion
1/ pint of white sauce, cheese sauce is also good
3 tomatoes sliced


Prepare all the vegetables. Slice onion and fry in a little butter. Cube carrots, swedes and turnips, and cook until tender in salted water and cook rice accordingly.

Mix all the vegetables together with the rice.

Place in a pie dish and add enough white or cheese sauce and the parsley to bind. Cover with shortcrust pastry and bake for 20 minutes.

Nice served with jacket potatoes.
