Bread Sauce

Sounds a little daft putting in this recipe but lots of people have asked me for this in the past.

1 onion stuck with 4 cloves
300ml/1/2 pint milk
4 heaped tablespoons fresh white breadcrumbs
knob of butter
little single cream
pinch of cayenne pepper


Put the onion and milk in a saucepan and leave to soak for 15 minutes. Bring gently to the boil then stir in the breadcrumbs. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add the butter, cream, salt and cayenne and reheat gently. Discard the onion, making sure you have all the cloves and serve.
