Microwave Steamed Sponge

2oz butter
2oz sugar
2oz self raising flour
1 large egg
2 tbsp golden syrup


Put syrup in bottom of microwavable bowl (I like the pyrex 2 pint type).
In another bowl cream butter and sugar, beat in egg gradually then add flour.
Pour on top of syrup and microwave on high for up to 3 mins looking very carefully to see when it's done. It's done when it's all spongey and not batter on the top anymore.

Best served with custard
