Kristi's Basic Scone Mix

This is my basic scone mix that you can add any number of mix ins. I like to add dried fruits and grated lemon peel.

Cooking time: 20 min

Serves: 12


2 Cups Flour
1 T Baking Powder
2 T Sugar
8 T Butter (Real Butter, not the fake stuff)
1/2 Cup Light Cream (1/2 & 1/2)
1 Egg


Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a mixing bowl place the Flour, powder and sugar. Start mixer on low to combine the dry ingredients. Cut the butter into tablespoon pieces and add them one at a time to the mixer. Mix untill the Butter is in small pieces. While the butter is mixing measure the milk into a measuring cup and add the egg. Whisk these together and pour all at once into the flour/butter mixture. Mix sparingly, only until just combined. Dump out onto a floured surface and knead into a flat disc. Cut into 12 pieces. Place on a parchment lined cookie sheet.

Brush with additional light cream. Depending on what you have mixed in, sprinkle with sugar or not.

Bake for 17 to 20 minutes.
