Submitted by:
Chicken or steak coated with a delicious home made balsamic bbq sauce.

Preparation time: 20 mins
Cooking time: 15 mins

Serves: 4

For the balsamic bbq sauce:
1 cup balsamic vinegar
3/4 cup ketchup
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 garlic clove - minced
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

For the Chicken or Steak:
4 pieces of chicken or 4 pieces of NY strip steal or club strip steak
Salt & pepper

For the BBQ Sauce:
Combine all the ingredients in a small sauce pan & stir until all the ingredients are incorporated and the mixture is smooth. Simmer over medium heat until reduced by 1/3 - about 15-20 mins.

For the Chicken or Steak:
Place a grill pan over medium heat or preheat the BBQ. Season the meat with salt & pepper. Lightly coat both sides with some bbq sauce using a brush. Place the meat on the grill. Place all the remaining sauce - still in the sauce pan over low heat or in the edge of the BBQ and allow to gently simmer until the meat is cooked.

Cook the chicken about 8 mins/side. Cook the steaks starting at about 4 mins each side until meat themometer reads the desired temperature. 120°F for medium rare, 135°F for medium [6 mins/side], 155°F for well done [9 mins/side]. Continually brush the meat with sauce every few minutes. Remove the meat from the grill and let rest for about 5 mins. Serve with heated sauce on the side.

Alternately, the chicken can be baked in the oven. Preheat the oven to 375°F . Place the chicken skin side up in a baking dish for about 25 mins. Remove the dish from the oven & spoon the sauce all over the top of the chicken. Return the dish to the oven and bake for another 15 mins. Serve with heated sauce on the side.
