Homemade Bread

A really simple bread recipe for those first starting out. Easily doubled if more bread is needed

Preparation time: 1-3 hours
Cooking time: 20 minutes

Serves: 2 loaves


2 1/4c warm water
2T sugar
2tsp salt
4T oil ( I use olive oil)
1T or 1 pkg yeast
5-6 C flour


In large bowl mix water, sugar, salt and oil until dissolved. Then sprinkle on top the yeast and then flour.

Mix together, form into a ball, cover with saran wrap then clean dry dish towels. put in warm place to rise.

When dough has doubled in size, punch down and knead for 5 - 10 minutes or until dough feels like it's fighting back. Form into 2 loaves, put in grease pans, grease top and let rise again. When doubled in size, pop into oven until golden brown all over and sounds hollow when bottom is tapped.

Cut and shape into rolls.
During the kneading, add 1 - 2 C grated cheese for to make cheesy buns or bread - really yummy, these dissapear super fast!!
or can add mixed fruit and raisins for fruit bread
