Dough: Cut in shortening as for pie dough. Add enough milk to make a soft dough. Spread in greased and floured 6" x 9" pan. Cover with a layer of berries or other fruit.
Topping: Mix together sugar and flour. Add enough half-and-half to make a runny sauce. Pour topping over fruit.
Bake at 350 degrees F until golden brown on top.
