Red beans and Rice with Turkey Sausage

Difficulty: Easy - for beginners


In a large pot
brown 1 onion chopped and 2 sticks celery chopped (or however much you like of onion and celery)

Then slice up and add 1 package oscar mayer turkey sausage (It is usually the cheapest and it doesn't have MSG) and brown it just a bit.
Then add however much rice and red beans you want --this is sort of family preference.
I usually do about 2 cups brown rice (uncooked) and the amount of water the type of rice cooking calls for. And 1 of the big cans of red beans gently but not totally drained.
Put a lid on and let the rice cook up until it is done.

Sometimes it may seem a bit soupy at first but usually once it starts to cool it thickens up. Just be sure the rice is done.

You can Substitute some Swanson's chicken broth for some of the water but even the "No MSG added" bother some folks so it depends on who I'm cooking for. It does make it extra tasty though.
