2 lbs lean boneless pork loin
2/3 cup plum sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp vegetable oil or sesame oil
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp chopped garlic
1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before using to prevent scorching. It's easier to slice the pork thinly if it's partial frozen.
- trim pork; slice length wise into 1/4 inch thick slices; cut into 1 inch strips.
Thread strips onto skewers; place on tray or platter.
- combine 1/3 cup of the plum sauce plus all other ingredients; brush some of
the mixture generously over the meat. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- place skewers on greased grill over medium-hot coals or at medium setting;
grill for about 8 to 12 minutes or until the meat is no longer pink inside, turning
halfway through and basting occasionally with sauce. Brush with remaining plum sauce just before serving. Makes about 24 appetizers.
