Cake Batter:
2 sticks room temperature butter
2 C. granulated sugar
2 C. sifted all purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 C. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Frosting:
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 325 deg
Mix the butter and sugar together well
Add the flour, baking powder and salt
Separately, combine eggs, buttermilk and vanilla
Introduce the dry into the wet mixture
Pour into a cake pan and into the oven for an hour
Frosting:
In a medium bowl, cream together the cream cheese and butter until creamy. Mix in the vanilla, then gradually stir in the confectioners' sugar. Store in the refrigerator after use.
