Apple Crisp

Sweet and crunchy dessert goes great served with ice-cream or whipped cream. This recipe is for apple crisp, but a variety of fruit can be used with great results. You may have to adjust the baking time and temp (i.e. shorter and hotter for soft fruit)

2 C. Fresh, tart apples, peeled and sliced
1 T. Granulated white sugar (or agave nectar)
1 t. Lemon juice
1/3 C. Brown sugar
1/4 C. Granulated white sugar
2/3 C. Rolled oats
2 T. All-purpose flour
1/4 C. Butter softened

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel and core the apples. Slice the apples uniformly. If you want your apples to be more crisp after cooking, slice them thicker. In a bowl, combine the apple slices, sugar or agave nectar, and the lemon juice. Place the apples in a greased 9"x9" baking dish and set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, oats, and flour. Mix well with a fork. Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples, and bake for 30 minutes or until the top is crisp and browned. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 20 minutes. Serve warm with ice-cream.
