â€¢ 1 8â€ Pie crust OR Bisquick shell- see method
â€¢ Dijon style mustard
â€¢ 4 good sized yellow onions, approximately 4 cups, thinly SLICED- donâ€™t chop them, I tried it and it changes the flavor
â€¢ 2 T vegetable oil
â€¢ 1/2 tsp sugar
â€¢ 1 T flour
â€¢ 1 1/2 cup shredded swiss cheese
â€¢ 1 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
â€¢ 1 cup whole milk or 1 cup evaporated skimmed milk
â€¢ 2 eggs, slightly beaten
â€¢ 1/4 tsp salt
â€¢ dash of pepper
â€¢ dash of nutmeg
â€¢ Preheat oven to 375 degrees
â€¢ Brush a thin layer of Dijon mustard over pie crust, and bake 8-10 minutes until light brown
â€¢ Saute onions and sugar in oil until onions are soft and slightly golden. Donâ€™t burn them!
â€¢ Turn off heat and stir flour through mixture thoroughly. Add to pie shell.
â€¢ Add cheese
â€¢ Combine milk, eggs, salt and pepper. Pour over cheese and onions.
â€¢ Dust with nutmeg
â€¢ Bake for 35-40 minutes
1 C Bisquick
1/2 C butter, softened
2 T boiling water
Mix bisquick and butter. Add water and mix until soft dough forms. Press into pie pan. Youâ€™ll need to bake it for 4 minutes before you can add the mustard.
