Sour Cream Coffee Cake

A tasty coffee cake with a homestyle flavor!

1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder


1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup nuts (optional)


Blend sugar, butter, eggs until smooth. Add sifted dry ingredients and sour cream to mixture and beat until smooth. Lightly grease and flour tube, or bundt pan. Place enough batter to cover bottom of pan. Sprinkle 1/2 of the topping mixture and cover with remaining batter. Top with remaining topping. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown and tooth pick comes out clean. The topping will be crunchy when it first comes out of the oven, but once it sits in an air tight container, it softens up, no worries. It's much better the 2nd and 3rd day as the flavors sit. I store mine in a large cookie tin. This cake weighs a ton, lol...
