Soda Biscuits

Difficulty: Easy - for beginners


2 c flour (not self rising)
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
1 t cream of tartar
2 T lard
1 c milk


Preheat oven to 425.

Sift the dry ingredients together. Mix in the lard. While slowly stirring with a fork, blend in the milk.

When well mixed, roll the dough out to 1/2" thickness on a floured board. Cut into biscuits.

Bake on a lightly buttered, shiny pan for about 15 minutes.
