Difficulty: Easy - for beginners
Serves: 6

1 tsp black pepper
2 Tbs flour
1 1/2 lbs boneless beef round or roast
2 T oil
1 can (10 1/2 oz) condensed French Onion Soup
1 c Burgundy or dry red wine
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
10 oz mushrooms, cut in half
3 medium carrots, peeled and cut into 2-inch pieces
1 c frozen small whole white onions
1/4 c water
2 Tbs flour

Stir together black pepper and 2 Tbs flour. Add to a bowl with the beef and toss to coat. Heat the oil in a large skillet and brown the beef.

Stir together the beef, soup, wine, garlic, italian seasoning, mushrooms, carrots, and onions in a 4 qt crock pot.

Cover and cook on low for 10 hours (or high for 5 hours) until the beef is fork tender.

Stir together 1/4 c water and 2 Tbs flour. Stir the mixture into the crock-pot. Cover and heat on high for 15 minutes (or until the mixture boils and thickens).
