Difficulty: Easy - for beginners
4-5 russet potatoes
1/4 cup butter
2 garlic cloves
1/4 parmesan cheese (or more!)
Peel the potatoes, slice into 1/8" rounds, soak in ice water for 30 minutes. Slice the onion into thin slices. Melt the butter and mix in the minced garlic. Place a layer of potatoes in the bottom of a pie dish. Then a layer of the onions. Drizzle 1/3 of the butter/garlic combo. sprinkle with 1/3 of the parmesan and the some paprika. Repeat for three layers. Bake uncovered for an hour. I had to cover close to the end because it was done on top...
