Mincemeat Bars

Ingredients

BASE:
1 tablespoon soft butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons molasses
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup seedless raisins
9 ounces mincemeat

ICING:
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
3 tablespoons hot milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Method

BASE:
Cream the butter and sugar until light. Add the eggs, molasses and vanilla. Blend in the flour, soda, cloves, salt and cinnamon. Stir in the almonds, raisins and mincemeat. Spread thin on cookie sheet with sides and bake 12 to 15 minutes at 400 degrees F. While hot, spread with icing.

ICING:
combine ingredients together well. Spread on bars when they are hot. Cool and cut.
