Filbert Cookies

Ingredients

1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup corn syrup
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup flour
1 cup chopped hazelnuts
1 cup semi-sweet chocobits

Method

Place butter, shortening, syrup and sugar in top of double boiler. Bring to a boil over direct heat and remove from heat immediately. Blend in flour and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoon 3" apart onto greased cookie sheet covered with parchment. Keep batter over warm water while baking remainder. Bake at 325 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool i minute and remove from parchment. Place chocolate bits over hot water and melt. Brush on cooled cookies.
