Indian tomato butter sirloin

This is a delicious indian dish with nearly a dozen spices

Preparation time: 1.5 hours
Cooking time: 1.5 hours

Difficulty: Easy - for beginners
Serves: 5


1 lb top sirloin
2 Tb olive oil
2 Tb sesame oil
4 tsp Garam Masala spice (see below for spice mix recipe)
1 tsp tumeric
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tsp New Mexico red chili
3 cloves garlic
1 onion
1 red pepper
3 tomatoes
2 cups mushroom
1 can tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1 cup half and half
1 cup non fat yogurt
bamati rice

Garam Masala spice (enough for the above recipe and more):

2 tablespoons ground cumin
1 tablespoon ground coriander
1 tablespoon ground cardamom
1 tablespoon ground pepper
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg


cut the sirloin into strips and add to pan with the oil
mix in half the spices and marinate for 1-4 hours in the refrigerator
brown sirloin for 10 minutes.
add tomato sauce, water, yogurt and half and half
stir in vegetables
simmer for 1 hour
serve on basmati rice

Try with chicken, scallops or without meet.
