Bourbon Fudge Brownies

Difficulty: Easy - for beginners


1/2 cup black walnuts, broken
2 teaspoon bourbon
1/3 cup butter, melted
2 squares (2 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate, melted
2 eggs. room temperature
3/4 cup flour
1/2 tablespoon baking powder
pinch of salt
1 cup sugar
2 - 3 tablespoons bourbon
3 squares (3 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate, melted
3 tablespoons butter, melted


Soak nuts in bourbon, cover and set aside. Melt, over low heat, 1/3 cup butter and 2 squares chocolate. Cool. Beat eggs separately. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Add beaten eggs, and cooled chocolate mixture. Mix only until ingredients are well blended. DO NOT OVERLY MIX. Stir in bourbon-soaked nuts. Spoon mixture into well-greased 8 x 8 inch baking pan, and bake in preheated 350 degree oven, 25 minutes. DO NOT OVERLY BAKE. Cool in pan on rack to room temperature. Evenly brush top with 2 - 3 tablespoons of bourbon, and allow to soak in. Melt, over low heat, 3 squares semi-sweet chocolate, and 3 tablespoons butter. Blend well. Drizzle over top - tilting pan to cover evenly. When chocolate topping is firm, cut into squares. Layer between waxed paper and store in tightly covered container in refrigerator, or freezer.
