21/2 cups warm water
1 tbsp salt
25 ml (little over 2 tbsp) yeast
Spoon of butter
6 cups flour
Mix all the ingredients together and either beat at low speed in an automatic mixer with the kneading hook, or kneed by hand.
Place in clean bowl and cover in oil. Cover with a clean cloth or plastic wrap and let rise for 1 hour.
Beat down and form into buns or loafs and let rise uncovered for 1/2 an hour to an hour or until double in size.
Bake at 350 for 1/2 or until golden brown. When the bread is finished it should sound hollow if tapped on the bottom.
Note: you can make whole wheat bread using this recipe as well. I usually do a combination and use 4 cups white and 2 cups whole wheat.
