BUTTERMILK BROWNIES

Ingredients

2 C Flour
2 C W. Sugar
½ tsp baking soda
½ C. Marg.
¼ C. Veg. oil
1 c. Water
4 Tbsp. cocoa
½ Cup buttermilk
½-1 C walnuts (if desired)

Icing:
¼ C. butter
3 Tbsp. Milk or Cream
2 Tbsp. cocoa

½ tsp. vanilla
approx. 1 ¾ C. icing sugar
( ½ - 1 C. nuts if desired)

Method

Mix: 2 C Flour, 2 C W. Sugar and ½ tsp baking soda

Bring to a rapid boil: ½ C. Marg.
¼ C. Veg. oil
1 c. Water
4 Tbsp. cocoa
Pour this mixture over the flour mixtures and bland well. Stir in ½ Cup buttermilk and ½-1 C walnuts (if desired). Pour batter onto 15” jelly roll pan.

Bake at 400 degress F. for 20 min.

Icing: Bring to rapid boil:
¼ C. butter
3 Tbsp. Milk or Cream
2 Tbsp. cocoa
Remove from heat and add ½ tsp. vanilla and approx. 1 ¾ C. icing sugar ( ½ - 1 C. nuts if desired). Spread on cake right from the oven (it will harden quickly)
