The Cuban sandwhich is a bit like a deluxe ham and cheese with pickles- pressed and toasted like a Panini. Wow your picnic guests with this recipe or simply keep it for yourself the next time you fancy a delicious savoury snack!

Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time:

Difficulty: Easy - for beginners

French bread or similar rolls
Stone ground brown mustard
Thinly sliced roast pork
Thinly sliced ham
Hamburger dill pickles
Swiss cheese

Spreading the mustard on the bottom half of the roll, and spreading mayonnaise on the top half. Layer the roast pork on top of the mustard. Top that with the ham. You want no more than equal parts of ham and pork, or preferably slightly less of the ham. The next layer are the pickles. There should be enough pickles so that there's a bit of pickle in each bit. Place one layer of Swiss cheese on top of the pickles and close the sandwich, making sure everything is neatly tucked inside.

A panini press is perfect for making these sandwiches, but a sandwhich toaster is just as good.
