Difficulty: Easy - for beginners
Serves: 6 for main meal
1 Tbsp Olive oil
1 onion chopped roughly
2 cloves garlic finely chopped
2 carrots chopped into 1cm squares
2 stalks celery chopped to same size as carrots
2 sprigs thyme
450 dried split peas
1 litre chicken stock - buy this not worth the effort in making it
1.7 litres water
600 grams hock or smokes pork bones - i could do with more of this but then i like smoked pork .....
Saute all - carrots, onion, celery garlic - in a olive oil
add the rest andcook for about 1 hour ...
salt and pepper to taste
take meat off bone ... dump the bone and skin then eat to hearts content.
