Torc's Irish Soda Bread

I got the original version of this from an old Celtic cookbook and modified only the replacement of yogurt for the milk.

Preparation time: 7 mins
Cooking time: 40 mins

Difficulty: Medium - experience needed
Serves: 6

Dietary guidance: v n 


4 cups flour,
1 tsp baking soda,
1 pinch salt,
1.5- 2 cups plain yogurt, add
1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar (optional)
1 cup of anything you would like to add, raisins, peperoni, dried fruit. (optional)


Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Make a hole in the flour and vigorously stir in yogurt to make a thickish dough. Turn out on a floured surface and shape into a loaf or round and place into a greased loaf pan or cast iron skillet. Cover and bake at 400 for 40 mins
