Cheese Straws

Very thinly sliced cheesy breadsticks. A hit at our house. These are not soft and doughy, but crunchier.

Difficulty: Easy - for beginners
Serves: 5


2 c. flour
2 tsp. mustard powder
1 tsp. salt
2 c. grated SHARP cheddar cheese
6-7 Tbsp. water
3/4 c. margarine/butter
Parchment paper or Pam spray


Preheat oven to 325degrees.

Mix flour, mustard powder, and salt together in large bowl.
Add margarine or softened butter to mixture.
Stir in grated cheese. Add 6-7 Tbsp. of water to give it a workable texture.

Knead dough into 2 balls.

Roll out onto floured surface and cut into tiny straw sized strips. You can use a large knife for this or a pizza cutter.

Carefully move and place straws onto baking sheet lined with parchment paper to keep them from sticking. Make sure there is a small amount of space between each straw so they don't get stuck to each other while baking. :) enjoy!

**I still have not perfected the move of the straw slices from the cutting area to the cooking sheet. Some break apart on me.
