Dietary guidance: v
2 lbs Confectioners Sugar
1/2 cup fresh squeezed key lime juice
1/2 cup softened butter
1/2 cup high ratio alpine shortening (can be purchased at cake decorating shops or http://www.sugarcraft.com)
1/2 teaspoon salt
Cream butter and shortening together with salt. Slowly sift confectioners sugar a little at a time alternating with the key lime juice and mix well. (Try not to beat at too high a speed so as not to create air bubbles in the frosting). If icing is too stiff for spreading consistency add a tablespoon of cream/whole milk/or sweetened condensed milk a tablespoon at a time in order to reach desired spreading consistency.
