Apple Crisp

apples, tart, 6, peeled and sliced
sugar, 1 cup
cloves, ground, 1/4 tsp
cinnamon, 1/2 tsp
lemon juice, 2 tsp
flour, 3/4 cup
salt, 1/8 tsp
butter or margarine, 6 tbsp = 3 oz
nuts, chopped, 1/4 cup
ice cream, whipped cream as topping


1. Oven to 350 F
2. Grease a large baking dish. Slice apples into dish, add 1/2 cup sugar, spices, lemon juice. Toss to mix.
3. Blend remaining sugar, flour, salt, margarine into a crumble. Add nuts. Sprinkle over apples.
4. Bake 45 min. until apples are tender and crust is browned. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
