Fruit Cake

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons soda
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup mixed , chopped fruit
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 ½ cups applesauce
2 tablespoons molasses


Stir together flour, soda, salt, and spices. Combine ½ cup of the mixture with the fruit and nuts; set aside. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in egg, vanilla, applesauce, and molasses. Add dry ingredients gradually, mixing well. Stir in fruits and nuts and pour into greased pans. Bake at 325 degrees F for about 1 hour or until done
