Cheese Straws- WW New Complete Cookbook

1 Cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne
5 Tablespoons cold butter, cut in pieces
1 Cup shredded extra-sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 Cup shredded Parmesan cheese
3-4 Tablespoons cold water


1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a food processor combine the flour, pepper, and cayenne. Add the butter and pulse until the mixture forms crumbs. Add the cheddar chese, Parmesan, and water; pulse until the mixture forms a ball.

2. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll into a 9-inch square, about 1/4-inch thick. Cut into 3x1/2 inch strips, making a total of 48.

3. Place the cheese strips on a large ungreased nonstick baking sheet and bake until golden, about 15 minutes. With a wide spatula, transfer the cheese straws to a rack to cool completely.
