2 pounds cake flour
2 oz sugar
2 cups shorting
12 oz water +/-
Your favorite jam filling
Blend flour, sugar and shorting by hand until pea size bits, add water untill dough just starts to form.
Shape into round then gentle flatten. Chill for 30 minutes.
Roll out to 1/4" thickness and cut into 4"x4" squares.
Fill one side with a tablespoon of jam.
Fold in half and press down edges with a fork.
Transfer to baking sheet and brush with an egg wash.
Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake 425 degrees for 10-12 minutes until golden
Yield 8-10 turnovers
