Nana's Green Tomato Catsup

Difficulty: Easy - for beginners


1 peck green tomatoes
1/2 peck ripe tomatoes
1/2 dozen onions
1/2 dozen green peppers
1/2 dozen ripe peppers
3 heads cabbage

1 c horseradish
1 Tbs black pepper
1 Tbs white mustard seed
1 Tbs cinnamon
3 Tbs celery seed
3 lbs brown sugar
vinegar to cover


Chop vegetables fine and sprinkle with salt. Let mixture stand all night.

Drain vegetables.

Put vegetables into a large pot. Add in the remaining ingredients and use enough vinegar to cover the mixture.

Heat to boiling point.
