Nana's Scotch Eggs

Difficulty: Easy - for beginners


1/4 c bread crumbs
1/4 c milk
salt and pepper
1 tsp chopped onion
1 lb bulk sausage
4 hard boiled eggs
1 beaten egg
1/2 c breadcrumbs
Rolling hot oil


Soak 1/4 c breadcrumbs in milk. Mix well with salt, pepper, onion, and sausage meat.

Peel eggs and roll them in a little flour. Then wrap part of the sausage mixture around each egg, pressing firmly to coat evenly. Roll each in beaten egg and then dip in breadcrumbs.

Deep fry in hot oil until sausage is thoroughly cooked and the outside is a deep brown. Drain well on absorbent paper.

Cut eggs in half and serve hot or cold.
