Dill Strips

medium cucumbers
3 cups vinegars.
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 teaspoon alum powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 cup dill seed


Cut cucumbers into 1/2-inch strips about 4 inches long. Remove seeds. Do not peel. Pack 8 pint jars. Add 1/2 teaspoon dill to each jar. Bring vinegar, sugar, alum, and turmeric to a boil. Pour over pickles. Add lids. Bring jars to boiling in hot water bath and boil 15 minutes. Remove and cool. Remove bands. Wash off top of jars.
