Difficulty: Easy - for beginners
1/2 c red hots candy
1/4 c sugar
2 c water
4 apples, peeled if desired, cored, and cut into 1/2" rings
In a skillet combine candies, sugar, and water. Cook and stir until mixture boils. Add apple rings to syrup mixture.
Simmer gently, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes or until apples are tender. Occasionally spoon syrup mixture up over apples.
Cool apple rings in the syrup mixture.
Makes 3 cups.
