1 Package (8-count) frozen sweet potato patties
2 Cans (8-count) crescent rolls
2 cups sugar
2 cups water
2 sticks (1 cup) butter
2 Tbs. flour
2 Tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring
cinnamon (approx. 1/2 Tbsp or to taste)

I bake them in the oven in my crock pot POT, and then place them in my crock pot on the warm setting, so they would stay all oooey-goooey…it worked really well.

Cut each potato patty in half. Separate crescent rolls. Starting at wide end of each roll, roll 1/2 patty in each (16 dumplings). Place in 9 x 13 dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Mix 1/2 of the water with the flour to form a paste. Add to sugar with rest of water, butter, and vanilla in saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil for 5-10 minutes. Pour this syrup over the dumplings. Sprinkle top with cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes, or until brown. Spoon juice over dumplings as it is served.

Apples can be used instead of yams. Cut apples into 4 slices (Granny Smith are good).
